Her goal is simple – “Coming from the perspective of a woman, a former educator, and a business owner, I want to provide clarity and specialized knowledge to the financial issues and options of my clients, so they have a coach to give them guidance, tools, and support in taking advantage of opportunities that will bring them closer to reaching their goals.”
Her story is simple – While finishing my Ph.D. and working as an assistant to a CFP, I witnessed a widow. Overwhelmed after the death of her husband, realizing she was now faced with managing the finances on her own, her face was filled with fear and devastation. She didn’t know who to trust, and was worried she’d make the wrong decisions and lose everything they had worked hard to save. She was afraid the lifestyle she was accustomed to would change. Would she have to go back to work? Would she have to be conservative in her spending? She feared becoming a burden to her family and was unsure of how to proceed. She feared losing her independence, and control of her money and her life.
Though it broke my heart, it suddenly hit me that in the future, I or any other woman, could be in that same predicament. It struck me then that women need financial knowledge. At this point, my journey changed from teaching college to empowering women through knowledge. Something I realized, the widow was missing that day.
Suddenly I realized my career had come full circle from working in banking and education to my new purpose of educating others about financial independence. What I have learned is that instead of fearing the unknown, we as women need to channel our own Wonder Woman. Financial knowledge makes us better business owners, better business partners, and independent women who can make our own financial decisions.
“Let’s face it; you can’t live life if you are worrying about money.”
